Dr. M.S. Kanwar is widely known as the Pioneer in Sleep Medicine in India. He returned to India in 1995 to set up Asia’s Largest and most sophisticated Sleep Lab at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, New Delhi and his team kept doing thousands of Sleep Studies ( Polysomnography Studies ) primarily to diagnose Obstructive Sleep Apnea, Narcolepsy, Insomnia Paroxysmal Leg movement syndrome, Upper Airway Resistance Syndrome etc. Over the past 25 years, Dr. Kanwar has personally reported more Sleep studies than anyone else in India. He has trained scores of Post-Graduates in this art of medical science. Dr. Kanwar was the Chairman of the Annual National Sleep Disorder Conference in the years 2014 and 2016. He is also the past President of the Indian Sleep Disorder Association ( ISDA ).

Polysomnography ( Sleep study ) is an overnight test performed by applying electrodes to the patient to measure EEG, ORO-Nasal Flows, EMG, EOG, Oxygen Saturation, Leg Movements, Chest & Abdominal Movements, Body Position and Oximetry. In the Split-Night protocol, a device called CPAP ( Continuous Positive Airway Pressure ) is also applied to measure pressure by manual titration by the accompanying technician to see the optimal level of CPAP at which all obstructive apneas disappear. Optimal advice and management has always been our aim and the driving force.
